This was a great recommendation from a family member. Our party of 5 stopped in on a Saturday night around 530. Obviously it was not busy. The owner was at the door to great us with a friendly attitude. We were sat at our table and given water and noodles right away. Our waiter was fast, attentive, friendly, and even had a sense of humor. As the restaurant got busier, our service remained just as good. There were plenty of people working there so I do not think the service would be bad because of how many people they have working. They serve the wide noodles which were not greasy at all. They were actually a bit dry and soft. They tasted great but it just was not the texture I am used to. The duck sauce and mustard were very good. I got wonton soup and it was up there with the best ones I've had. Not too salty or overpowering flavor. I ordered a dish I never had before. It was awesome. It was a crispy beef and pepper dish and they serve it with a choice of white or brown rice. I had the brown rice and it was really good. Everything about the dish was great. Everyone else loved their meal. The place is very clean inside and smells clean too. The prices are just a tad more than usual but the quality and service is worth the extra.

We have been here over a handful of times and are always disappointed. When we first moved to FL we found Christina Wans and were excited to have a great Chinese restaurant so close to home. Each time we dined here one of us if not both would get a disappointing dish. But this last time we had dinner here it was beyond horrible and we decided we won't be back. Looking at the menu nothing was really popping out to us and since we had never tried their appetizer menu we thought we would just get an assortment of items to try. Starting with Wonton Soup and Hot & Sour Soup both lacked flavor and texture. The Wonton Soup has pork wontons that were mushy and extremely under seasoned in a bland broth. Next we had the Seaweed Salad, this was in a bed of water. The whole salad was very wet and not enjoyable. The Ha Gow (steamed shrimp dumplings) and Pork Dumplings were cooked well but also lacked any kind of flavor. In the past we have had their Beef Lo Mein that was good the first time we ordered but then was very greasy next time ordered. Also, the Vegetarian Delight, General's Chicken, Ma Pow Tofu, Crab Rangoon's, and Egg Drop Soup all of which have been disappointing. So to say the least the food is not desirable. Service is nothing amazing, from time to time you have to flag someone down. For the price you pay you would expect quality and enjoyable dishes. I would not recommend dining here.

Sunset menu 5-6:30 pm. I went for dinner on a Tuesday night at 5:30pm and there were only 4 other tables with diners. I think the weekends get much busier. I ordered the veggie spring rolls to start for $3 (2 rolls). They were very good. They also give you complimentary fried noodles with a sweet duck sauce and a spicy mustard sauce. I had the chicken egg foo young. They give you three large patties with a bowl of brown gravy. You get your choice of brown or white rice for $13. Serving is large and very tasty. However, you don't get an egg roll or soup with the meal. The ambiance is very classy with table clothes and linen napkins. Service was excellent. They were constantly filling my water and available if I needed anything. There is plenty of parking in the attached parking lot. It is located in a strip mall next to Winn Dixie. I thought the food was good, but it is a little pricey. Make sure you go for the sunset menu for better value. I didn't order off sunset menu because egg-foo young was not on it. They only have about 10 items on that menu. Check their website for menu.

I really wanted to like this place, unfortunately everything was just tasteless. We ordered general tso's chicken, chicken fried rice, vegetable lo mein and some fried pork dumplings. Not much taste or spices used in any of the dishes, the chicken was soggy and the fried dumplings were very doughy. My search for decent Chinese food in Ft. Lauderdale continues.

Really really yummy Chinese food. Same owners as temple street eatery right next to it in the freshmarket plaza.

Great! Two experiences during vacation, one at the restaurant the other take out. Excellent ribs! Loved the chicken with glazed walnuts too. All of the food, (included pork lo mein, lemon grass beef, cashew scallops) was fresh and high quality. Efficient and friendly service, nice ambience. We enjoyed the crispy noodles while we waited!

My friend and I have been eating here almost every Saturday night for years now. It has become sort of a routine or tradition. The food is always wonderful and the service is great. portion size is perfect and the food is always fresh. it is worth noting that the majority of the staff have been the same for the entire time we have been going, which says a lot about the management. This is the place for a nice dining experience. See you on Saturday = )

Great dinner. Quiet and friendly. Edamame, fried rice, crispy black pepper beef & house fried rice. Service always great.

What happened? We always had good meals here. Stopped in on Saturday and the beef dish I ordered was pieces of grey looking meat on a plate with chunks of raw onion on top. The General Cho's chicken was tasteless. Very disappointing.

We ordered delivery to our hotel as there weren't many places to eat close by. I found the restaurant online and looked at their menu. The person who answered the phone wasn't overly friendly but our hotel was in their delivery area so that was good. The food arrived about 45 minutes after we called. We ordered a small wonton soup which came with lots of wonton chips and about 3 wontons, shrimp fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken. The chicken was deep fried and came with sweet and sour sauce and came with white rice. There was a lot of chicken and the fried rice has decent amount of shrimp. Too much food for dinner as we had leftover fried rice. Good food for about $30 and glad they delivered to our hotel for free as well.

I have eaten here on numerous occasions but this is my first review but they all could be the same as the food and service have always been excellent. Two friends and I ate here last night. We had the Hot and Sour soup which was excellent . I can recommend the Szechuan Beef which was superb with fresh beef and crunchy veggies. My friends can recommend the Orange Beef and Triple Delight. One recommendation is to use wide noodles for the dipping sauce so it doesn't drip everywhere. Don't understand why all restaurants don't use the wide ones. The usual great service and reasonable prices were experienced. Strongly recommend!!!

I have been coming here ever since they opened. Being originally from NY (who isn't ) I was raised on Chinese food. 1. Great staff 2. Prices are in line with the food and service 3. Delivery is fast and only a $2.00 delivery charge The Hot and Sour Soup is perfect every time, and the servers know to bring a soufflé cup of white wine vinegar and hot oil with the soup. Even the delivery's come with that. The dumplings are the best I have had south of Mott St (Wo Hop downstairs). These are not the same dumplings that you get in every Chinese Rest. That is because they are not bought in. The chef makes the fresh every day that is including the dough which by the way they use Pillsbury flour for (I had to ask ) I love theLemon Grass Chicken , the grilled shrimp, Hunan beef. I also like that they have brown rice and not afraid to tell you they do.

The best Chinese food in the city! Quality homemade sauces and healthy options. Not greasy like many fast food delivery. You won't be hungry again in two hours!

So much disappointment.. I'm new to the area and haven't been able to find a good Chinese spot yet. I gave this restaurant a shot, ordered some food and eagerly waited. I may have been wolfing down my food at first out of hunger, but realized the flavors were off. The sesame chicken was bland and dry (not enough sauce either!). Hot and sour soup is one of my favorite things but this place diluted the flavor so much that I'm glad there were enough bamboo shoots to make up for it. The only good thing about my order was the fact that I got the crispy noodles in a bag. Will not be ordering from here again.

Pretty good. Went here on a Sunday night for dinner with my guy. The place was pretty packed and unfortunately also had a screaming and crying child for about 75% of the time we were there. Service was average..nothing spectacular. I got the orange peel chicken. It was alright, but a bit too rich for my taste. For the price of the food I would expect it to be better than average, but unfortunately thats what it was for me. Overall decent.

DO NOT EAT THIS FOOD!!! It is so disgusting. Everything tastes like urine! The MOST HORRIBLE food I have ever ate. After a few bites, I was puking in my toilet. Not just "most horrible Chinese Food" category, like most horrible UNEATABLE food, EVER! I was to burn my mouth to get the taste out of it. I feel absolutely for eating the few bites, I did. It was expensive and they took FOREVER to deliver. We looked on Yelp since we are new to town, and apparently, the bad reviews are deleted.... HORRIBLE!!!! Not deserving of ONE star. Negative 10 stars. We threw everything away.... What a waste! I am so digested and feeling like my insides are going to implode. Unless you want to feel absolutely sick and eat food that has NO FLAVOR and all tastes like cat piss, then Christina WAN House is FOR YOU! I keep burping up the smell of warm throw up....

Not worth it at all! Have ordered from here several times, and each time is more disappointing. I really wanted to like this place since it is so close to home for me. Food was so greasy, bland, and whomever was in the kitchen made it abundantly clear they didn't care if the customers they were cooking for would remotely enjoy their food. Dining room is very nice, but be warned-this restaurant was closed by the health dept very recently for roach infestation. Typical south Florida inconsient dining. One would think a restaurant that claims to be a "south Florida tradition" could make the food stand out from the typical bland fake Asian food that is the standard for Fort Lauderdale. Better off buying from the mall food court Chinese-at least they don't pretend to be authentic and charge 30% more than most other places. local10.com/news/frozen-…

Their food was really good but the portions were on the smaller side. Had their beef with broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, and house fried rice to name a few which were excellent. We had to order more dishes half way through dinner since the portions were not the largest, but they were quite prompt with serving our orders. Nice and accommodating for sure, but these dishes were overpriced in general.

Fantastic Asian food! It's been an establishment for over 20 years for this family's restaurants. Great food, reasonable prices, nice interior, owner greets people at the door and remeber returning customers. Lots of vegetarian options for those who want them. make sure to come here over other asian places if you can!

As usual the food and service was great, hot and outstanding!! I arrived before 6:30 and was able to get a sunset special price on my favorite crystal shrimp which comes with soup, egg roll and rice. I always say that my tummy is smiling after a meal here!! BEST food Ft Lauderdale has to offer.

This is not Authentic Chinese food. They don't even have a Chinese menu. The kong bao chicken looks totaly different than what you will see on Google search images. Hot and sour soup is not hot nor sour. They get 1 star for having a spacious and clean looking dining area and friendly service. The food is really subpar.

This evening we went back here again For dinner. We waited only 5 minutes for A Table. We where greeted by Christina When coming for Dinner with a Smile And sat by a server. Was given hot tea Right away upon request. Then water poured shortly after. We had the Vietnamese hot & soup to Share which was excellent. Also spring Rolls. Followed by Eggplant and shrimp In a brown sauce with brown rice. It's Not on the menu but if you ask for it they Will make it. Also the Shrimp and Scallops Sweet & sour my Mom had. Liked it very much. Service was attentive as always. Hope to be back soon.

Christina Wan's is a few notches above your typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The place is beautiful and clean. Service is good. And the food is delicious. This would be a great place to enjoy dinner with the family or even a special occasion. They take reservations and accommodating to whatever your celebrating. We have eaten their egg rolls, vegetable pot stickers, hot and sour soup and schezuan beef. Everything is delicious... but just lacks 5-star appeal over their lackluster dim sum menu and pretty typical menu choices.

The service is not bad, the atmosphere is average, and the food is a slightly better than a typical Chinese restaurant that caters more to a non-Asian palate.

Our good friends lauded this place, and, despite the so-so ratings and reviews on Yelp!, we decided to give it a shot with our company. It's located in a very nice-looking strip mall near the Victoria Park area. The interior is a typical Chinese establishment, with one large, unobstructed room, packed with round tables/chairs, and typically non-descript decor. Nothing fancy here. (In fact, the whole atmosphere was so bland, the day after, I don't even recall any of the wall decorations, if any!) I started off with an order of shrimp dumplings ($4), and an entree of Pad Woon Sen ($11) (Singapore rice noodles with shrimp, chicken and pork, and various bits of vegetables, with a curry sauce). (Personally, I've never before had Pad Woon Sen served with curry; nonetheless, I like curry so it wasn't anything to make me cringe.) The appetizer arrived in a small tin: four small dumplings (essentially at 1-buck a piece). The dumplings were well-cooked, but pretty much lacked any real "bang" in flavor. It simply was tiny dumplings. The Pad Woon Sen, on the other hand, was very tasty. (I mean, it would take a real klutz to F-up this simple dish! The chicken and pork were pretty much undistinguished. The pieces of shrimp were fresh, plump and flavorful. I chowed it down heartily. The curry flavor was well-pronounced and seasoned the entire dish very well. The only negative about the entree was the amount oil that was left at the bottom of my devoured plate. (I'm not sure what everyone else at the table felt about their respective dishes; however, one said that their Kung Pao Chicken dish was "dry and had no flavor." Another said their Orange (Peel) Chicken "[didn't] taste like orange.")

Our favorite Chinese restaurant in South Florida. We drive all the way from Delray Beach but don't mind, it's worth it. Pan fried dumplings, caramelized roasted sliced pork, Orange Peeled Beef.... everything we have had, we enjoy. Food: 4 stars Service: 4 stars Atmosphere: 3 stars Price: 3 stars ( a little high but I don't mind paying for quality)

Blah, ho hum, boring and somewhat less than mediocre Chinese take out food at reasonable yet sit down prices for what you get. The food strikes me as very americanized, something intended to satisfy all but consequently has little pointed appeal, with the sort of taste and preparation that one might derive from a very dated recipe from a Betty Crocker Cook Book. The service is good, the place is clean, the décor is nice, the ambiance comforting and love their neat, clean table settings with attention to the smallest of details such as having all of the glass sparkling clean and water spot free. However, with all those fine features to it, I found it to be generally lacking in spark, luster, and rather devoid of any snap, sparkle or pizzazz; particularly in regards to the food. Oddly enough, I've been at several functions, the food service of which was catered by Christina Wan, to be delightful and generally superior to what I've had in the restaurant. In fact, I wouldn't have any hesitation to engage her catering services.

food is ok, some dishes are good (soups, rices, tofu), some aren't (beef, chicken), and the service could use improvement, the decor is nice and clean. it's alright for lunch or dinner.

Dined there this past weekend for the first time. I had heard so many great things about them but was left disappointed. The food and service was fine but nothing stellar to justify paying $20 for a plate.

Really just average. Of the three dishes only one was a hit. the orange tofu. The other had dried pork and the typical thinly pounded chicken.

I went here on Christmas day with my boyfriend. What else is a Jew to do on Christmas? I've never eaten here before, but he said that he ate here years ago and it was good. Well, things must have drastically changed because it wasn't good the other night. First of all, over-priced. The cheapest thing on the menu were the fried rice dishes, which were $10. Any chicken, shrimp, beef, or pork dish starts at $13 and up. And quite frankly, for the quality of the food, or lack thereof, that's over-priced. The wonton soup was okay, nothing to write home about. For the main course, I had the honey garlic chicken. The chicken was over-cooked and very dry. My boyfriend had the house special fried rice, and he said that it was very bland. You know nothing about Chinese food if this is your favorite place.

    (2)
  • Neil B.

As always, food was delicious and the service is among the best. I don't remember the appetizer portions being so small or the prices so high. But, all in all, this is a great restaurant with excellent food.

  • Mike W.

Poor Christina Wan's. We have gone here several times over the past year and everything was fine....up until tonight. The noodles were stale and when we asked for new ones, our server said they won't open a new box until the old box was empty first....not a good answer. The hot & sour soup & dipping sauces appeared....well, watered down. The curry chicken was horrible. Steamed chicken covered with a watery, corn starched, curry powdered topping...ugh. Maybe it's the sluggish economy and restaurant owners are trying to stretch profitability? Regardless, I hope to see a turnaround soon or else "another one bites the dust". At least the tea was hot :-)

  • Bernardo A.

Had dinner there last night. Gross. Completely gross. The steamed pork dumplings were mealy and slightly sour. The fried vegetable dumplings stunk of rancid oil. The spring rolls stunk as well. My mu-shu chicken was bland over bland and watery. The cashew chicken was not very good; and I didn't dare try the shrimp or scallops. Service was friendly, so the one star is OK.

Christina Wan's is an enjoyable local restaurant. The ambiance is elegant without being formal and they go out of their way to please customers. I particularly love their crispy orange tofu, mixed vegetables (ordered separately), and crispy noodles. A plate always makes 2-3 meals for me. The spring rolls have a slightly odd taste, and the miso soup was too salty for me, but I enjoy everything else. Bonus: there's a great indie coffeehouse facing the restaurant.

Any place that makes you go "damn, it wasn't worth it" when you receive the bill is a place you won't be returning to. Unfortunately, this is the case here. If you're on your cell phone right now frantically looked for some great Chinese food, may I reccommend to skip this place and head south to China Lane in Hollywood. My boyfriend and I ate here last weekend on "date night". The wonton soup was yellow and oily looking. The fried rice was O-K and the 2 chicken dishes we got (honey garlic and sesame) were "alright". Definitly not worth the $55+ bill we received at the end of the meal. In case you were wondering that was just for food, we both drank water. A little pricey if you ask me!

  • Joshua Z.

Love Christina WANs! Very nice and professional service. Tried multiple entrees including the new traditional Vietnamese menu. Very reasonably priced and the food is great for the price. Very extensive menu...three thumbs up!

  • William B.

No. Just, no. I asked the waitress which was better between one of their tofu specials and one of their chicken specials. She said, "chicken is always more flavorful." This should have set off warning bells, but I went with it. If she was right, I hate to imagine what the tofu could be like. I ended up with a few firmish vegetables and a plate of breaded chicken nuggets, bathed in a brown sauce that was probably a mix of oyster sauce and corn syrup. And this was one of the "spicy" dishes. It wasn't even cheap.

  • Sal G.

I am fairly consistent with what I order and how I order it. It is very rare that I will give a 5-star to an establishment. To be able to garner the highest rating from me, the reviewed establishment must fall into one of two categories. 1. I am utterly WOWed by everything. I leave amazed. 2. I find at least one item that I crave and the establishment prepares that one dish consistently over multiple trips. I have now had 2 trips where the level of service and the quality of the food has gone down considerably. I understand a bad day every now and again and I am fairly sympathetic; but when I have several poor meals in row, I tend to get grouchy. I ask for the same thing every time. Here are my issues: 1. The Kung Bo was ordered extra-spicy with ONLY red peppers. I received additional items not asked for and the piquancy was at most a medium. I didn't change the way I order and I have had this server previously. 2. The dumplings were oily, partially burnt, and doughy. Not the doughy flavor you get from a bad dough, but the dough you get from cooking the dumpling at a very high heat to get it done faster. The partially burnt portions and the oiliness only confirm that they didn't cook the dumplings properly. 3. The Yeung Chow fried rice was overly oily. Again, this is something that occurs with inexperience. My friend Mr Han (god bless him and may he rest in piece) explained to me that if there is a lot of soy sauce used it is because the person is using too low a heat and if there is too much oil it is because the person is using too high a heat and not focusing completely on the rice. I trust him since he was a 4-star Chef from China and made THE BEST Yeung Chow fried rice I have EVER eaten -- ever. 4. The service was less than stellar. I don't understand where the mediocrity came from, but I was not happy. I will still return, but I will not be wanting to return anytime soon. I hope that everything gets better.

This place is just OK. I wish it was an outstanding Chinese restaurant. But unfortunately it falls short. There's nothing special here that makes me want to return. Its definitely not the worst Chinese food. Ill probably return in a couple of years.

If you're looking for non-greasy Chinese food - this is your place. Nice, clean setting without being overly pricey, this is a great place to take family members out when you're having a Chinese food craving. All the food seems very fresh and even healthy... There's a lot of sushi/thai/chinese fusion places in Fort Lauderdale with trendy interior decor and inflated prices. Not this place... Christina Wan's has a family restaurant feel. Service is fast and the servers are very nice. The full bar offers some great "sake-tinis". During our last visit we stopped by 1/2hr before the kitchen closed. I thought they would rush us to order or finish up so they could clean up and close but they didn't.

Love this place . Always get a friendly hello from Christina the owner . The spare ribs are THE BEST . The chicken friend rice portion is enough for 4 while all the entrees are authentic Chinese . The shrimp dishes are the best. Always have a good meal there. You will enjoy it trust me.

Boyfriend & I were searching for a Chinese buffet to help us celebrate the new year; though we didn't find a buffet, Christana Wan's can up so we said, Happy New restaurant. We sure weren't "Dragon" on a wait time as a waiter gave us the right amount of time to review the extensive but not overdone menu. D's Saigon beef was succulent; tender and seasoned just right his odd pallet was satisfied. My Kun Pow Chicken was WOOT spicey as listed in the menu Portions were spot on. Not so much as to want to do my usual take home & not s little as to let to growing boys go hungry. My only disappointment was no chop sticks on the table.

My friend and I went there for lunch. They had lunch special at $8.95. I thought lunch special for Chinese food was a bit high. I ordered lemongrass beef, fried rice, and wonton soup. The wonton soup wasn't good at all. The soup tasted like dish rag. The lemongrass beef was good and flavorful but very sweet. The fried rice was just blend, no taste. The service was decent but I don't think I will be back here again.

No longer even average Chinese food. Anyone that rates this highly knows zip about Chinese food. They must be rated on seasoning and sauces in addition to quality of the ingredients. And then, it has to be cooked properly. Recently had General's chicken...The breading on the chicken was saturated in cooking oil and fell off. Chicken overdone. Asked for it to be spicy hot and they forgot the hot part. The vegetables in the dish did not have a distinctive taste of each veg.--the taste from one to the other vegetable was very similar. Seafood plate with shrimp & scallops was the same--the taste all mushed together. The sauce from one to the other almost tasted the same. They used to get very high marks...the good cook must have disappeared.

So often we accept Chinese food to be fried, covered in sauce, and cooked in a 'restaurant' the health department doesn't even bother to inspect. This place is actually clean, dare I say elegant - with Oriental themed murals and recessed lighting. When friends from out of town are craving Chinese, I bring them here. Christina Wans isn't the best Chinese food I've ever had, but their food is always satisfying, fresh, and priced just right. They have a great menu and specials during happy hour. They even take reservations, which is a recommended if you come in a group. *Be fore warned when making reservations; sometimes Christina will pencil you in where no table exists! But fear not, Mr. Wan to the rescue and you are seated in no time.

I attempted to consume their won ton soup again today, since last time it was inedible. Again I took one bite and spit it out. It was so over cooked. Just disgusting. The pork lo mein I ordered was the blandest I've ever tasted. Not to mention I found a black hair in it. Pork dumplings were also bland. The one flavor I could taste made me not even finish one. The spring rolls were the only thing that were okay. I was also annoyed by the fact that when we ordered the food to be delivered, the woman on the phone just hung up. She assumed we wanted it delivered to the address listed under the phone number. We did not. In the end, I probably won't return.

I love Chinese food but have found myself avoiding it as I've gotten older. Generally it is greasy and heavy, and it no longer agrees with my stomach. Christina Wan's cured my aversion. The food was tasty and not too heavy. My wife and I ordered the pan fried pork dumplings and they were perfect. Then I ordered the Mandarin Scallion Roast Pork and she had the Chicken with Fermented Black Bean Sauce. I tasted both dishes and they were quite good. A bit light on the seasoning compared to other Chinese joints but that is precisely why I liked them. The services was awesome. Our waiter had a great personality, knew the menu well and was able to recommend dishes based on what we were craving. Great place for a date or a meal with the family.

Since my fav chinese restaurant mysteriously closed (Mandarin Villiage, Plantation, Fl) I haven't had much luck finding a good, I mean REALLY good Chinese restaurant. . . . .until now, that is (thank goodness for Yelp). I do not know how long Christina Wan's Mandarin House has been open but for me it is akin to the light at the end of the tunnel! We arrived at about 6:00 p.m. and were seated immediately. Nice background music, good lighting, and not all that busy just at that time. I never had a rushed feeling....took our time to look over the menu and decided on the Mongolian Beef and the Sweet and Sour Shrimp and Pork Fried Rice. What a treat - de-lish! The Mongolian Beef was a tad bit salty but ok nonetheless very good. The Pork Fried Rice was very good. The Sweet and Sour Shrimp was wonderful. Definitely, we will be going again!

I don't understand how this place doesn't have 4 stars! I'm here constantly bc its the best Chinese in Ft Laud. The General Tso chicken is amazing, their steamed dumplings are fantastic, egg rolls are plump and juicy! Their fried rice is always on point. And to top it off the place is actually nice and well-kept. Its a little on the pricey side, but you pay for what you get!

I used to enjoy the food here until I found a MAGGOT in my rice!!!!!!!!!! I am so disgusted, and there was ZERO apology or alarm from the staff when I called to inform them which leads me to believe the kitchen here must be a cespool. I am so wigged out, I will probably never be able to eat white rice again!!!!!!! Skip this place and try somewhere else

I was initially impressed by the look of the place, just because it wasn't the same decor you see in Chinese restaurants around the world - you know the feeling that gives you an inner shiver of deja-vu ... However, for all that it was somewhat generic, with nothing that stuck out. At least until we sat down and I saw the stains on my husband's white napkin. Also, being quick to notice these things, his menu - the pages that were covered with plastic - had a thin layer of sticky sauce on several. I thought these things were checked after each customer. Just fyi I went with my mom and husband. The former loves Chinese food, while the latter ... not so much. So I was anxious that everything be great in order to break down this wall. At the risk of being TOO super-focused on this but I think I did ok. But I digress. Re: the food. The crispy noodles were, oh boy, the best, I'd ever had. None of us could stop eating them - so addictive - we went through one bowl BEFORE the soup even got there. Kudos to them for offering chicken hot and sour - most times we can't get it as we don't eat pork. My mom ordered a chef's speciality jumbo shrimp dish, MH had the Szechuan beef and I had the orange beef. The shrimp were incredibly large but the "sauce" they were in was more of a watery soup, so delicately flavored it didn't have much. The Szechuan beef was supposed to be dry, hot and spicy according to the menu, but as we found out (and were told by the waiter) it really wasn't any spicier than the sweet & sour sauce it was smothered in. 0 for 2. However, my dish was awesome - the best orange beef I remember in a long while. Great balance of flavor, crispy beef that somehow was not greasy - very very nice. If only we had all ordered that ... About the service ... it was ok, but definitely what I've come to expect for Chinese food - I hate to typecast, but when it happens every time - perfunctory, slow, not particularly friendly or attentive. I had a groupon but without it, the final bill (without alcohol) came to about $80 - much more than I'd ever consider paying regularly. Oh well, at least I didn't have the usual too-stuffed-to-move feeling after! Oh and just fyi, I didn't notice any Chinese people eating in there ...

I have eaten Chinese food all over the world, including China, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco's Chinatown areas. First, the plum sauce at Christina Wan's restaurant is outstanding. Also a plus is the food is generally not greasy. The service was good on the three occasions I've eaten there. The decor is attractive. But as to the food generally, it's lackluster and lacks flavor. Compared to high-quality Chinese restaurants in other cities, I would rate it no higher than two stars. There are no imaginative dishes on the menu, and the presentation is only slightly above average. Overall, I was quite disappointed. Perhaps I'll find better if I travel to Aventura or Miami. Having said the above, the other Chinese restaurants in Fort Lauderdale deserve no more than one star.

Met my family there. The egg rolls were okay. The hot and sour soup was not that good, tasted cheap. The chicken was very hard and dry, like the pre cooked stuff. The service was very good and the food came quick.

It has been a while since I had Chinese food and came across a Groupon for this place. I use to eat at their old location on Federal and I ate here the week they opened this location but haven't been back since as for some reason, after many years of liking this kind of food, I lost my taste for it. I have eaten in a few Chinese restaurants in the area such as P.F.Changs, Jade Palace, Pei Wei, etc., and none were worth a second visit.. We went in around 3 PM as I like to go to lunch after the lunch crowd is gone. The place was empty except for 2 servers sitting at a table snapping beans. We were shown to a booth but they were very tight so we started to sit at a table. The booths didn't have tablecloths but the table did and the hostess (owner?) started to take off the tablecloth and dinner settings when I showed her the coupon which is restricted to ordering from the dinner menu so she started to put everything back and I told her that wasn't necessary so she stopped and replaced the tablecloth with paper place mats which was wrong for so many reasons. Allen ordered Egg Drop soup ($2), the Mu Shu Pork ($12) and I ordered the Mu Shu Chicken ($12) which comes with white or brown rice and we both ordered the brown rice. The pork/chicken is rolled into crepes with cabbage, mushrooms, eggs and scallions coming to 4 crepes each. The server brought all the ingredients to the table and made the 4 crepes serving us one while he made the others.I had one of Allen's pork and he had one on my chicken. We both agreed that they were very bland without any taste except for the mustard and/or duck sauce we put on them, that had been served with the fried noodles served at the beginning. Nothing wrong with the food but certainly nothing to bring customers back. With the coupon, after taking $15 off the $32.24 check which included tax and tip, our bill came to $4.68 which was basically the tip but we added a couple of more dollars so all in all it cost us $10 each, which is what it would have cost us if we hadn't used the coupon and just ordered off the lunch menu. Nothing particularly wrong with the restaurant, or the food, though the whole table cloth thing was a turn off and at the same time nothing compelling to bring people back.

Scrumdidlyumptious! This place is my go to for downtown fort Lauderdale. Def one of the best Asian restaurants in Broward. I am a hard to please woman, but really have nothing bad to say about this place. Portions are big, price is fair, breaded chix is lightly breaded and food is presented in a gourmet manner. Def worth it even if it is just lunch or take out....

I've been eating Christina Wan's grub every other week since they moved from Hollywood to FLL many moons ago, but have only physically been in the restaurant once. Not that I'm opposed to it. It's a stone's throw from my place, has an oddly comforting model-home type of interior, a bona fide (full) bar, small outdoor patio, nice lighting and a gracious owner and staff. I really enjoyed my lone experience there. It's just that when it comes to Chinese food, I like to lazily gorge myself on the couch in front of the TV. I'm generally a mess after and my place looks like a Chinatown murder scene. Boxes strewn across the floor, chili sauce on the walls, noodles hanging from the ceiling fan. Chinese delivery is my type of comfort food and it doesn't get much more comfortable than boxer shorts, a Ferrell flick and a bucket of Christina Wan's Chicken Kung Pao. My favorite part of the delivery-experience is counting the fortune cookies they include in the bag. I figure that based on the size of my order, they must guesstimate how many people they think I've ordered for and drop cookies in the bag accordingly. Last night they gave me five fortune cookies. My high score. There is no reason on God's Green Earth I don't weigh 800 lbs - thank you Momma genes. The down side to delivery? I largely stay away from seafood and chef's specialties, which I've found don't take to being boiled in hermetically sealed plastic containers in the back of a Hyundai. The one time I did dine in, our group partook of everything I wouldn't order delivery...rack of lamb, whole fish...all of which was good. Prior to Christina Wan's arriving on the East Broward scene, the landscape for stateside takes on Mandarin, Cantonese and Szechwan standards was bleak. As other yelpers have noted, this isn't the best Chinese-American in the world, but it is easily the best Chinese-American I've had east of "the tracks." As for the food - Hot & Sour Soup, Kung Pao, Beef and Broccoli, Pork and Eggplant, Szechwan Chicken, Sa Cha Beef, Spring Rolls - all of the usual suspects show their faces and are reliably good. They do dabble in the unorthodox - there are several lemongrass dishes that are good (like Lemongrass Shrimp), they give a nod to chain restaurants in their Chicken Soong (Lettuce Wraps), and throw in the occasional unexpected and appreciated curve ball. They also have some very good vegematarian options. So much so, that I'll occasionally ignore my inner carnivore and order a Crispy Tofu in Black Bean Sauce and a side of chinese greens (on most nights, baby bok choy, on others Chinese broccoli). Like most Chinese-American, CW can occasionally err on the oily side (I had Chow Fun that was literally swimming in oil about a year ago) and sometimes I wish they had a heavier hand with the spicing (can lean slightly towards bland), but other than that, I'm always pretty satisfied. I do agree that they don't seem quite as consistent as they used to be (which was extremely consistent). The portions are also relatively small in comparison to run-of-the-mill Chinese eateries, but more than enough for most normal human beings. Brass tacks is that the food, prices and ambiance are a step above the norm and If you're a Chinese-food junkie like me, Christina Wan's is a great place to get your regular fix. All of my rankings are relative, so the four stars I've bestowed upon CW are within the context of Fort Lauderdale proper. There are some more authentic/tastier options for Chinese out west. BTW: If any of ya'll Yelpers have suggestions for Chinese that's on par with, or better than, Christina Wan's in the downtown area, please ping me.

Chinese New Year so we needed some Chinese food. At Christine Wan's, you get exactly what you would expect from a Chinese restaurant in a strip mall in the suburbs. I had the worst glass of wine I have had in a long, long time. I could even drink it. It was probably my fault for ordering wine in an establishment like this. The food was fine, not too greasy, but completely benign. I definitely can't recommend eating here, but it was OK for what it was.

I like this place. As Chinese restaurants go it is very clean and has nice decor. There are great booths around the perimeter, plenty of tables, and a bar with TV. The service was great. The staff was well dressed, very attentive, polite, and courteous. I liked the food, although I thought that the portions were just a little light. Five (5) shrimp in a shrimp dish seems stingy. The shrimp was tasty however. All-in-all its a hit and worthy of another visit.

BLECH -- I've been here many times because it's close to my house, but tonight was my last visit. I ordered the pork spare ribs, and two specials: the giant shrimp and the sesame chicken. All were tasteless, and tough. Although the service was fast, the place is dingy and uninviting, and the overall experience was terrible.

For vegetarians, finding Mu-Shu Vegetable is an exciting find, indeed. I ate at Christina's tonight as well as a year ago. Last year, I remember the mu-shu being so fresh and flavorful. This year, it was good but not overly impressive. It seemed a bit less fresh and to rely more on the cabbage-y vegetables than the (more expensive) bell peppers and all that. Plum sauce is nice. Service is very attentive and friendly. We had a Chilean Sav Blanc with our meal and that went along nicely. Brought Grandma with us and she didn't find the music offensive (trust me, she'd speak up if it was the slightest bit loud). Portions were very well sized--she brought a lunch-sized portion home. She got sweet and sour chicken and happy with it, though it was 99% chicken with just a few veggies included. My dad's Hunan chicken was good, too. He had a nice assortment of vegetables along with his chicken, which was welcome. Love the super-fried nooodly things on the table with two dipping sauces. Was a bit hard to stop munching on them! I'd recommend Christina's, especially for vegetarians, because of its fresh, clean, friendly approach to Chinese food.

I'm lucky enough to have friends with good taste in South Florida. If you read any of my other Ft. Lauderdale reviews, they're pretty much all 4 and 5 stars. We went to Christina Wan's for dinner and left very happy. The staff is very friendly and very accomodating. My friends are regulars and the bar staff knew them by name and drink (right down to the number of olives in the martini). The drinks were nice and strong. The waitstaff also knew them well and anticipated what they wanted. At our table we started with a terrine mixture (per special request) of won ton/egg drop soup. For entrees we had 1) Mooshu pork. Pancakes were nice and light and so was the pork. 2) Kung Pao chicken which managed to have a spicy kick to it while remaining light and satisfying and 3) Sting beans with Scallops. The Scallops were light like pillows and there was just enough sauce to keep them savory and flavorful without overpowering the dish. String beans were still nice and firm. All were served with a brown rice steamed to perfection. Portions were appropriate and I left with that light/full feeling. The ambiance is simply appropriate and elegant which allows for your attention to be drawn to the people and the food. An hour later, I was not hungry!

Bought a 16 dollar Orange Chicken entree. Saying I was so disappointed is an understatement. Their orange chicken is a bunch of small pieces of chicken/mostly just bread crumbs fried and put in some orange sauce. I know good Chinese food and this was not it (have been to real chinese restaurants (NOT PF CHANGS) as well as in Hong Kong). Was so incredibly overpriced and of low quality. Never will be coming back here.

After much hype about Christina Wan we decided to give it a try for takeout. I order 2 General Tso chicken, requesting one of them extra spicy. I picked them up, the place was busy for a Monday night, so I was hopeful my General was going to be yummy. What a disappointment, this was the worst General chicken I have ever had. It has absolutely no sauce, just very dry lightly breaded chicken and no spice. Very few pieces of vegetables. Sorry Christina, coming from the North and great Chinese, I will not be back. When I saw the bill for takeout I was hopeful it would be great, but not the case. Be warned!

After reading reviews, I gave it a shot. Was worth the trip with authentic Chinese (not fast food overly Americanized) cuisine. Mandarin beef was good. Those who know good non-sugary and goopy Chinese food would like it. Would go back to try other dishes. Good decor and setting. But still seeking the place the restaurant staff would patronize like dim sum, but this is FLL after all.

First, let it be clearly stated that the number of Chinese restaurants (good or bad) in the downtown area is extremely small. That said, the longevity of Christina Wan's is elevated to the level of dubious. With a menu which suggests origins in the 1950's chow mien house era of Chinese dining, and decor to match, this is an absolute "must-avoid" dining experience. Ordering something as simple as an eggroll yielded a previously-frozen cabbage-ladden mess which had been fried in overused oil and inadequately drained. Sad to say, the dining experience went downhill from that point. Poorly seasoned Sino-American cornstarch sauces, low quality produce and proteins and a complete lack of culinary imagination are my takeaways from Christina Wan's. Although I certainly wouldn't want to demean their handicap, the restaurant seems to attract a lot of older folks whose hearing loss requires the use of "outdoor voices." Couple a few tables of loud conversation with a handful of discourteous cell phone screamers, and the atmosphere is outright maddening. BTW, walking to Christina Wan's from downtown after dark is more than a little threatening.

oooh, lemme look at this local gay magazine I found at the swimwear store I visited earlier....them FLL boys be hot! mmm, some eye candy....wait a minute, I am hungry and these pictures are not helping....we have 3 hours till our flight takes off, where do we go? Found Christina Wan's listed in the local gay magazine..... I forget the name of the magazine, all I remember is a half naked man standing on the cover page asking me to come and take him.....yesss, i will gladly oblige....anyways... It was a short ride from the airport and located in a shopping mall. I thought: Hey, its gotta be good...after all, the gay folks let them advertise in their magazine....and them gay folks are snobby b*tches....they don't let you in their magazines unless you feed them well (in more ways than one, if you get my drift!).... So, we went in and were seated promptly. For a Monday evening at 6:30pm, this place was packed.....impressive! I ordered the Hunan chicken and he got the lemongrass chicken. We got brown rice with our dishes.....portions were big and the food was good....we cleaned our plates. They run a evening early dinner special....if you order before 6:30pm, you get a soup and egg roll included in your entree order. We just missed the evening dinner special or else I would have ordered that. Decent food, cute atmosphere, and good service....I am sold! Minus one star for not having any dessert other than ice cream.....

Been here a few times for lunch and I find the food kinda bland. I've had several types of chicken including the honey chicken (bland), the garlic chicken (bland) and chicken curry (bland, and how can curry be bland??). The lunch specials are reasonably priced, but I've had much better tasting Chinese food the same price and even less. It's not that it's bad, it's just that it's not good. Plus the frenetic, hurried service during the hectic lunch hour is felt by the customers, those servers seem like they want you to know that you're just a no-name out of a lot of tables they have.

Listen up here, this is the best Chinese food in Florida. You don't get better quality, value, and authenticity then you get here. This is the only place I will eat Chinese at in Florida, I usually start of with the shrimp dumpling soup it is enough for 4 people to share. For my entree I get the sweet and sour shrimp. The shrimp and huge they are not baby or even medium they are large shrimp. The sweet and sour chicken is also great if you don't eat shrimp. They also have great chicken and broccoli I tell them to throw in cashews. They will accomodate your order they charge you for whatever extra you want. What do you want nothing in life is free. So atleast they give you what you want, and how you want to eat it. They have great chicken fried rice that is enough for a small family. I also like their baby bach choy , and japanese eggplant they make great side dishes. They also dinner specials if you get there before 6:30. I sometimes pick up food here it is quick, you call in and your order is ready for pick up in less then 15 minutes.

Quite a little surprise tucked into a shopping plaza... great atmosphere and service. Be seated before 6:30 for 'sunset specials' that are an amazing value - soup, spring roll, rice, entree for around $12.

We went on a Tuesday night on search of good Chinese. I read the yelp reviews and hubby and I decided to venture east. Easy to find in a strip mall near Parker Playhouse. The place was fairly quiet. We ordered drinks and they came out quickly. Our first course was the special wonton soup to share. It was standard fare. We ordered Peking Duck and Walnut shrimp with scallions and broccoli. We also ordered a full serving of special fried rice. The food was not heavy and covered with gooey sauces which is nice. I am not a duck fan but hubby liked. A little pricey ($36). The shrimp dish was very tasty and I finished it. Took home a few containers for leftovers. With drinks and all the food, we spent almost $100. Thought it was a little expensive. Hubby rated it 4 1/2 and I rated it 3 1/2. Good service.

Been to Christina's many times through the years and have always had a very pleasant experience. Service is always prompt and pleasant, food is really top notch and Christina (who usually greets you at the door and seats you) is an absolute doll. I usually order the House Worba... awesome! Highly recommended.

This is top notch, Chinese cuisine in a modern, comfortable setting. The menu is large, and contains a ton of vegetarian items (my son doesn't eat meat, so this place was right up our alley). The BBQ spareribs were perfect; crispy, sweet, carmelized exterior. The shrimp dumplings were steamed to order, and tasted perfectly fresh. They accomodated us with a tofu lo mein - polished off by my son - and Szechuan chicken (julienned strips of chicken with a tad of spicy heat) which we loved. The service was quick and professional. There are a number of items we wanted to try - which means we will be back!

My family took me to Christina Wan's for my birthday, and wow, what a pleasant surprise. Best wonton soup I've had in a long time, amazing pan seared dumplings, succulent beef chow fun, and tasty beef with scallions. Lots of subtle flavors going on all at once. The service was amazingly quick and attentive. I almost couldn't believe how fast our food was served. We live in Boca Raton, so it was a little bit of a ways to get down here, but it was worth it. I'm a very discriminating critic when it comes to Chinese cuisine, and Christina Wan's passed with flying flavors!

I'm from New York and it is very difficult to find good Chinese food in S. Florida. So happy I found Christina Wans. My favorite Chinese restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. You must try the Mandarin Scallion Beef and the Spicy Chicken wings. And by the way, Mrs. Wan herself, is a sweetheart!

Have been wanting to get over to try CW's for a few years now..!! Luckily timing during XMAS shopping was perfect and my husband and I were able to stop in for lunch. I had heard that this is the best Chinese in FTL area so was super excited to finally get to check the place out (We live in Pompano and work so driving downtown isn't always feasible) We dined during lunch- ordered from the lunch menu. My husband had the chicken lo mien which was GREAT! It also came with won ton soup- my fav, and choice of rice. We opted for the veggie fried rice. I ordered the pan friend dumplings and an order of the chicken spring rolls as well. figured we could just shared everything. More than enough food, and it was all very good. I want to go back to try a few more things but I think they definitely lived up to the reputation. Out server was a funny and extremely pleasant guy. I have nothing bad to say about anything from our dining experience! :)

i have heard that a good way to judge a chinese restaurant is how many asians are dining there. well, i have never seen an asian eating here....and now i know why. one of the worst chinese restaurants i have eaten in here in south fla....which has a dirth of good asian eateries. sesame chicken was dry, and everything we ordered was tasteless. however, service was friendly and the atmosphere upscale....but that will not influence my ever coming back here.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
